Tour description provided by Viator

12-hour strenuous hike to summit the Peak (3004m) for the experienced hikers. The breathtaking reward lies at the free-standing peak where we will enjoy magnificent 360 degree views of the Drakensberg mountains.
This is a strenuous 10-12-hour hike for the more serious and experienced hikers. Adequate hiking gears, weatherproof clothing and safety equipment are required to undertake this full-day trek. Cathedral Peak Nature Reserve is a beautifully photogenic area in the shadow of the magnificent Cathedral Peak (3004 m), a colossal escarpment of peaks - Bell (2930m), the Horns (3005m) and Cleft Peak (3281m) dominates the dramatic skyline. The upward hike begins with short rests on steep sections towards Orange Peel Gap. Approaching noon we take a short break and advancing further up Bugger Gulley through rocky path heads up, up, up towards the peak. Here lies the most physically challenging part where we need safety gears to aid and scramble through steep and exposed terrain towards the vertical chain ladder. The breathtaking reward lies at the free-standing peak where we will enjoy lunch with magnificent 360 degree views of the mountain range. We then return to the car and head back to our lodges. This is a full day adventure leaving at 6.00 am and returning at 19.30 pm.
