I have just returned home to Ireland after a week long solo trip where my main aim was climb Toubkal. First of all i got lots of great info on Thorn Tree so thanks to everyone who gave me info. This was my 3rd trip to Morocco so the main part of the trip was spent in Atlas Mountains with a day either side in Marrakesh.
This was my 2nd trip to Marrakesh so I had no need to visit the tourist sites. I am into my photography so i just spent my 2 days here wandering around taking…
I'm flying in to Harare tomorrow (Saturday) and hoping to head east on Sunday. I have to cross over the border at Mutare by 26 June, and I'm hoping to see Nyanga Park and Vumba Park as well. Are there buses to Nyanga on Sundays? If so, do you know what time and how much it is and where do they leave from? Zupco is showing on their website that there are daily buses from Harare to Nyanga, but I don't know how accurate these are or if they're up to date.
Then, are there buses from…
Just a note for people who take money at ATMs in Gambia, if you are sick of the 150 or 200d fee to take only a small amount of money. I recommend using Gambian company: Approved Services money transfer. Used normally for sending remittances back to Gambia but open for anyone to use. You can just send money from your foreign account to yourself..
They take a very small surcharge, say you want to transfer 300 pound you will pay a fee of only 99p, whereas if you were to take 300 from an ATM it…
We would like to do some snorkeling in the Red Sea while traveling in Egypt. The guidebook has plenty of information about diving, but little mention of snorkeling. Although I am a certified diver, my wife is not...so we'd appreciate any suggestions about good places to snorkel.
So I'm planning one hell of a whirlwind voyage across Africa. I'm fully aware of the brevity of what I'm doing and have (reasonably) carefully planned what I'm doing. I'd like to get a bit of feedback about several routes by land, which are as follows:
(Bujumbura - )Kigali - Entebbe
(Lagos - )Porto Novo/Cotonou - Lome - Accra - Abidjan
Conakry - Bissau - Banjul - Dakar
My guess is that I would spend a couple of days or so per place (again, I don't need judgements from anyone about the…
We are 2 lady pensioners taking a 6 day break in Cairo. We have chosen a flight and a hotel near the pyramids. Now, do you think it is perfectly ok for us to do our own planning and touring in the city or would it be more sensible to book tours each day?
We are intelligent, very well travelled but not in "the first flush of youth" We are going in October.
