Tourist-class hotels are confined to Honiara, Tulago, Gizo and Munda. Although fairly basic by international standards, these hotels generally have rooms with or without private shower and air-con. Most have restaurants and bars, offer wi-fi service and take credit cards. There’s also a handful of upmarket resorts in Honiara and the Western Province.
Elsewhere accommodation is offered in private houses, usually with only basic shared bathrooms, or in basic leafhouse-style lodges, traditional huts made from woven coconut thatch and other natural materials.
The visitor information centre in Honiara can make suggestions and help with bookings. You can also check out www.solomonislands-hotels.travel. This portal is a good source of information and offers online bookings but its listings are not selective.
