The Slovenian postal system (Pošta Slovenije), recognised by its bright yellow logo, offers a wide variety of services – from selling stamps and telephone cards to making photocopies and changing money. Newsstands also sell znamke (stamps). Post offices can sell you boxes.
Domestic Mail costs €0.36 for up to 20g depending on the size, €0.42 for up to 50g and €0.47 for up to 100g. Postcards are €0.42.
International The rate is from €0.60 for 20g or less and €0.97 for up to 100g. A postcard costs €0.56.
Sending & Receiving Mail
- Look for the sign ‘Pisma – Paketi’ if you’ve got a pismo (letter) or paket (parcel) to post.
- Poštno ležeče (poste restante) is kept at the main post office of a city or town. In the capital, address it to Glavni Pošta, Slovenska cesta 32, 1101 Ljubljana, where it will be held for 30 days. Pick it up at window 3.
