Hello all. Im going to spend a weekend in Triglav in a week and am looking for some good day hikes. Ideally looking for 4-6 hours roundtrip, not overnighting with good views or something interesting otherwise to see. Will be spending Friday, Saturday and Sunday night there so have two full days. Only one I found so far that looked good was Krn lake.
Thanks in advance.
We will be in Slovenia at the end of September (September 24-Oct 6). We want to visit Velika Planina and I read that the herdsmen are usually there until the end of September-ish. Do you think we will see any of the herdsmen if we go there September 25th or 26th? Or will things pretty much be wrapped up there by that time?
Even without being able to see the herdsmen, I still think it looks like a worthy trip for the easy hikes with the kids and incredible scenery...I was just curious about…
My husband and I have hired a campervan for four nights in August, and were wondering if anyone could suggest specific camping grounds for us to stay in overnight?
Are all places we would like to see, but are very open to roadtrip routes and other suggestions.
Please advise if the itinerary below makes sense by public transport at the end of June:
Piran (coming from Croatia)
Soca Valley / Soca River / Bovec / Triglav National Park
Ljubljana for take off
I arrive by overnight bus from Pisa into Ljubljana early the morning of 23/04/18 and leave by train early the morning of 27/04/18 to Vienna.
I plan to stay in a backpackers, I am open for either a lively social place or an unusual place that has a cool vibe or one that organises trips. Basically as long as it is fun in some way I don't mind.
I was wondering is people could help me with ideas of both the must see touristy stuff and also a few ideas of unusual things to see or do in…
I'm planning a trip through Eastern Europe (Croatia, Slovenia and Austria) in June and am looking to spend 4 days in Slovenia. Was hoping for recommendations on the places I should visit in this beautiful country. Have thought of the following, any views would be extremely helpful!
Day 1 - Zagreb to Ljubljana via train; Sightseeing in town; Overnight stay.
Day 2 - Ljubljana - Lake Bled via hired car; Stay at Lake Bled overnight.
Day 3 - Lake Bled - Julian Alps; Stay at Julian Alps overnight.
I'm going to Slovenia with a friend this coming Thursday and was wondering if anyone can update me on road conditions as it looks like some are still closed due to winter conditions.
We are intending on doing the following:
Lake Bled - Pericnik - Lake Jasna - Vrsic Pass - Soca - Bovec - Tolmin Gorges - Lake Bohinj - Savica - Lake Bled.
I have checked the promet website and it says that R1-206 is closed due to winter conditions at Vrsic Pass and as is the alternative route we were…
I'm hoping to go to Slovenia in May, is it possible to base in an airbnb close to Ljubljana centre, then reach everywhere by public transport (bus, trains)
We are hoping to go to Bled, kranjska gora, soca river, lake bohinj, Bovec and possibly others? (in a week!)
thank you :)
I see that another option, and much cheaper than air or train is to go by Flixbus from Ljubljana to Budapest. Direct is about 6 hours 10 minutes. Have any of you taken this bus? Is it comfortable? Is there a toilet on board the bus? does the driver make any stops to stretch legs and eat? Having traveled by bus in southeast Asia and south Asia, I am somewhat leery of bus travel, but maybe Flixbus is different??
I am planning a trip throughout Eastern Europe in September, and I am having a devil of a time trying to determine if there is a train from Ljubljana to Budapest. I have searched GoEuro and I find some type of transport but it appears to be a bus (Flexbus?) from Ljubjana to Budapest for around 39 Euros, that takes about 6 hours, yet I have read Trip Advisor comments and people have said there is a Train for that amount. I cannot for the life of me determine if what I am looking…
