I've tried to find out how the duty on alcohol works in Singapore but just want to ask here so I don't get any unpleasant surprises.

I'm going from Australia to Copenhagen and have a stopover in Singapore. I have two separate tickets so I have to go through the immigration.

I want to bring some Australian wines and beers back to my grandmom's 85th birthday.

I know I can bring 3 liters of alcohol but what if I bring more than that?

Let's say I bring a 700ml bottle of rum at 40%, 4 700ml wines…

My partner and I are staying in a hostel in Singapore for 4 days before flying to Yogyakarta. The 3 hostels im considering booking are Lodge 41, Gap Year Hostel, and Backpackers@SG.
Has anyone stayed in any of these or know anything about them to help me decide where to stay?

Thank you :)

Hello all,

I have a 9 hour layover at Changi, arriving 1PM, leaving 10:30PM. I’d like to leave the airport for a few hours if possible, and see cultural sights. Is it realistic to try to go to Chinatown? I’m interested in the temples.
I’d like to put my bag in a locker at the airport, then take a shuttle to Chinatown if it’s possible. (It looks like there is a $9 shuttle that goes there? Not sure if it’s associated with a hotel.)
It looks like due to the length of my layover I would need to go…

Hi there,

I've seen some old threads on this, but I'd like some up to date info, and if possible info that's not contradictory! This seems to be a very confusing subject...

My husband and I are arriving in Changi on Singapore airlines from London. We intend to stay overnight to catch a flight on Scoot to Krabi. How in the world do the transit hotels work? Can we clear immigration to collect our bags and return to the Terminal via security with our Scoot boarding passes (which will be for a…

Dear travelers,

This is a warning to those who are considering or planning to use Jetstar with a flight out of Singapore Changi Airport. In contrast to all other airlines I have ever flown with, Jetstar does NOT check or ask about your carry-on luggage when you check in. Rather, once you have already gone through security, they, or the Changi security guards they apparently employ for this purpose, measure and weight it at the security desk. For every KG that your luggage is in excess they…

Hello, everyone :)
I am going to Yangon on 5 Febuary 2018 departing from Jakarta. So the flight will be Jakarta - Singapore - Yangon by Jetstar. Will arrive in terminal 1, I believe.
I will have an 8 hours layover in Singapore from 1 AM to 9 AM (6 Febuary 2018 ). I am a solo female traveler with no checked baggage. I don't want to go out and prefer to stay inside the airport. Can anyone please tell me if there is any place I can sleep for free and shower ? Ohh I heard that there is a pool inside…

Just wondering whether all the shops will be open during this time.

Will the Chinatown area also be open for normal trading, and Little India?

Thanks.

Hi folks!

I am considering a 1 or 2 day layover in Singapore on my way back from the Philippines in mid-April 2018. I will be a solo female traveler and am comfortable going out during the day doing my own thing but I know Singapore is famous for its food and I'm interested to know if anyone can recommend a good food tour (nighttime preferred) as I like the opportunity to engage with other people at supper time while traveling on my own. I really want to try some pepper crab! Also if there are…
