Drinking & Nightlife

Belgrade is Serbia's nightlife capital, with hip bars, alternative clubs and decadent riverbarges (splavovi) lending it a reputation to rival Berlin's. Novi Sad and Niš keep the party going in laneway bars, historic pubs and hidden pockets of alternative culture that are well worth seeking out. Outside the big towns, tables get packed in local kafane (taverns) and cafes; there's a good chance you'll experience ear-shattering trumpet or violin serenades.
