Discover the stunning scenery of this fascinating area of Castles, Coasts and Whisky
Day 1We'll depart Edinburgh and begin our journey north past the impressive Forth Railway Bridge. You'll visit Scone Palace and learn of its colourful and exciting past. As we continue north through the Spittal of Glenshee and the Cairngorms National Park you'll really feel like you've entered the Highlands. We'll stop for lunch in the pretty village of Braemar before a quick stop at Crathie Kirk, the royal family's regular place of worship. Our day ends by visiting the incredible Dunnottar Castle, this dramatic ruined cliff top fortress will take your breath away! Our first overnight stop is in the pretty harbour town of Stonehaven. Day 2Leaving Stonehaven we continue north up the east coast. Pitmedden Garden an absolutely stunning re-created Scottish Renaissance walled garden. We'll continue up the coast stopping at sandy beaches and friendly villages. You'll also be able to see Elgin's ruined cathedral before we journey through whisky making country. Speyside distilleries carry out 2 thirds of malt production, producing over 226 million litres of malt whisky every year! The village of Grantown-on-Spey is your overnight stop.Day 3After a restful night in Grantown-on-Spey we will begin our journey south, stopping enroute to try some delicious single malt whisky*. We will also visit the Highland Folk Museum, an incredible place where you can journey back in time from the early 1700s to the mid 1900s.
