Scottish Citylink has two to five buses connecting Glasgow (£20.50, three hours) with Oban. Most of these travel via Tarbet and Inveraray; in summer, one goes via Crianlarich. Two buses Monday to Saturday head north to Fort William (£9.40, 1½ hours).

ScotRail trains run to Oban from Glasgow (£25.30, three hours, three to six daily). Change at Crianlarich for Fort William.

Oban is a major gateway to the Hebrides. The CalMac Ferry Terminal is in the centre, close to the train station, with ferries running from here to Mull, Islay, Colonsay, Coll, Tiree, Barra and Lismore.
