There are many ways to explore North Berwick's particularly scenic slice of the great outdoors, from a leisurely round of golf to a rousing beach walk or high-speed boat trip.


North Berwick is a popular golfing destination, with three courses in and around the town and a dozen more within easy reach, including the world-famous Open Championship course at Muirfield (


The town's near some exceptional beaches, including Gullane Bents, Seacliff and Yellowcraig.


The cross-country John Muir Way ( winds scenically along the surrounding coast. To the immediate south, a short, steep path climbs North Berwick Law (187m), a conical hill that dominates the town. When the weather's fine there are great views to spectacular Bass Rock, iced white in spring and summer with guano from thousands of nesting gannets.
