Escape reality and technology as we learn about fairies, myths and legends as we encounter the unique landscape of Skye. You will see the main sites on Skye such as Kilt Rock, the Quiraing and the Fairy Pools whilst also seeing some of the off the beaten track locations that the island has to offer. Whatever your interests, you will have a magical experience with memories that will inspire you learn more about the history and culture of the Scottish Highlands.
ItineraryDay 1: Embark on a historical discovery of the Highlands that inspired film and TVStop At: An Ceann Mor, Inveruglas, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, ScotlandWe will make out first short stop at the Inveruglas Pyramid to see arguably one of the best viewpoints of Loch Lomond. Duration: 10 minutesStop At: The Three Sisters, Glencoe, Scottish Highlands, ScotlandWe will then continue on to one of the most iconic views of Glencoe, looking toward the famous Three Sisters. Before stopping here we may make 1 or 2 extra stops, weather and time permitting at the Glencoe waterfall and at the Loch Tulla Viewpoint.Duration: 10 minutesStop At: Jacobite TrainWe will arrive at the Fort William Train Station for those wishing to take the Jacobite Steam Train. We do not organise your tickets and it is advisable to purchase a single journey from Fort William to Mallaig in advance of the tour date to avoid disappointment. If you are taking the train, you will meet back with the group in Mallaig. For those not taking the train, you will continue the journey to Mallaig in the tour vehicle with your guide as per the next few steps in the itinerary.Duration: 1 hour 30 minutesStop At: Glenfinnan Monument, Glenfinnan, Lochaber, Scottish Highlands, ScotlandFor those not on the train, we will make a trip to the Glenfinnan Monument and Viaduct. If our timings are good, we will see the Steam Train going over the Viaduct which will delight any Harry Potter Fans in the group. There is also the chance to see the Glenfinnan Exhibition inside (free entry) to learn about Bonnie Prince Charlie and the significance of the area to the 1745 Jacobite Uprising. Duration: 30 minutesStop At: Lighthouse ChurchWe will then continue to Mallaig where we will meet those in the group who took the train. In Mallaig, you will have some free time to visit the shops and to have some lunch. One of our favourite things to do is have fish and chips by the pier. We will then catch the ferry to Armadale on Skye (ferry ticket is included)Duration: 40 minutesStop At: Torabhaig Distillery, Teangue, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will make a brief stop at the Skye's newest distillery which has a lovely shop and views towards the ruined Caisteal Camus also known as Cnoc Castle.Duration: 15 minutesStop At: Sligachan Old Bridge, Sligachan, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will make a brief photo stop at the Sligachan before continuing on to Portree where you will check in to your accommodation and where day 1 of this tour will end.Duration: 10 minutesNo meals included on this day.No accommodation included on this day.Day 2: Castles, Whisky and Dramatic Coast Lines.Stop At: Neist Point, Glendale, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will depart early from Portree and make our way to Neist point. It is the most Westerly point on the Isle of Skye and on a good day, you will have views towards the Uists. There is some walking required at this stop and there are some steep inclines and uneven paths. If the weather is not ideal, we will look at swapping Day 2 and Day 3. If too foggy, you will not be able to see anything and if this is the case, we will offer an alternative such as stopping at the Dun Beag Broch.Duration: 45 minutesStop At: Fairy Pools, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will make our way to the Fairy Pools at Glenbrittle on Skye. On route here, we will make a restroom break.Once at the Fairy Pools, you can make the walk down to the various waterfalls and pools. The path has steep inclines and there are places where the path is either uneven or where you are required to use stepping stones to get across the streams. Duration: 45 minutesStop At: Talisker Distillery, Carbost, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will make a trip to Talisker where you can enter the distillery and possibly have a tasting at their bar.We will also have lunch at the Old Carbost Inn near the Distillery, and for those who would like to, can enjoy some lunch on their own at the Oyster Shack which they can enjoy along the beach.Duration: 1 hourStop At: Dunvegan Castle & Gardens, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will end the day with a visit to Dunvegan Castle and Gardens. The castle is steeped in history and provides an insight into the Clan MacLeod. You will have the chance to explore the castle and the gardens. Duration: 1 hourNo meals included on this day.No accommodation included on this day.Day 3: Monsters, Legends and FairiesStop At: The Old Man of Storr, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will check out of Skye Accommodation early and make our way down towards the Old Man of Storr view. We will not have time to hike to the top but you will have time to get a nice shot from the bottom.Duration: 10 minutesStop At: Lealt Falls, Portree, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will make a stop at the new Lealt Falls Viewing Platform. For those a little more adventurous, there will be time to go down to the Mine Viewing Platform but the path is uneven and there are some steep inclines to navigate.Duration: 15 minutesStop At: Kilt Rock, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will make a photo stop at Kilt Rock. This is a fantastic view of this iconic rock formation with information on the nearby Dinosaur discoveries on the island.Duration: 10 minutesStop At: Uig Pottery, Uig, Isle of Skye, The Hebrides, ScotlandWe will then make a stop at the Fairy Glen by Uig where you can explore the Glen. The trails are very steep and uneven at this point but the views are worth it.Duration: 30 minutesStop At: Eilean Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh, Lochalsh, Scottish Highlands, ScotlandWe will make a photo and rest stop at the castle and visitor centre. We will not have enough time to visit inside the castle but you will have the chance to take plenty of photographs of this famous Scottish castle.Duration: 15 minutesNo meals included on this day.No accommodation included on this day.Day 4: Delve into the history of the Jacobites and Highland Culture.Stop At: Loch Ness Clansman HotelWe will check out of our accommodation in Inverness and make our way to the Clansman Hotel to join a Loch Ness Cruise with Jacobite Cruises. You will embark on a 30-minute loch cruise which ends at Urquhart Castle which you can explore for a further 30 minutes. Duration: 1 hourStop At: Culloden Battlefield, Culloden Moor, Scottish Highlands, ScotlandWe will then continue toward Culloden Battlefield where you will enjoy a visit inside the Visitor Centre before having a guided tour with your guide of the battlefield.We also take this opportunity to have some lunch in their canteen. There are affordable, fresh and quick options on offer. Duration: 1 hourStop At: Clava Cairns, Scottish Highlands, ScotlandWe will visit the ancient standing stones and burial cairns at the Clava Cairns. Thought to be around 4000-years old, you will have an opportunity to let your imagination run wild at how our ancestors once lived.Duration: 20 minutesStop At: Pitlochry VisitScotland iCentre, Pitlochry, Perth and Kinross, ScotlandWe will make a rest stop at Pitlochry on the return journey to Glasgow.
