This is a special place, with cracking views and wonderfully romantic rooms (one themed on Charlie Chaplin, who stayed here), plus other suites in separate cottages and a snug bar with outdoor seating. 'Courtyard view' rooms are darkish; it's worth upgrading to one with vistas. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic getaway or some quality time off life’s treadmill.
The restaurant (noon to 3pm and 6pm to 9pm; dinner £49) is of high quality, with local lobster usually featuring in addition to renowned cheese and dessert trolleys. There's also a great wine list considering you're in the middle of nowhere.
Overlooking Badentarbet Bay and the Hebrides, this award-winning hotel is nestled amongst beautiful scenery, offering fine dining and elegant rooms. Guests can enjoy walks through the surrounding landscape. Locally caught seafood including lobsters, scallops, langoustines and salmon are used fresh in the food served at Summer Isles Hotel, while the venison and eggs are also locally produced. There is a wide selection of over 400 wines. The Summer Isles Bar is open for lunch every day, serves coffee and snacks through the day, as well as informal meals in the evening. Light and elegant, many of the rooms include beautiful views of the sea or the courtyard. Rooms also feature an en suite bathroom, and guests can relax with cable TV in most rooms. Many of the rooms are located outside the main hotel. Free parking is available on site. Nearby Loch Lurgainn is a 20-minute drive away. Ullapool village, with its shops, museums and amenities, is 25 miles away. The hotel stands in the Geo-Park - set up to show off the amazing geology in this part of Scotland.
