Thermal Springs & Saunas

Geothermal pools are Iceland's pride. The most famous of the bathing places is the Blue Lagoon spa, whose waters are packed with skin-softening minerals. Visitors can also sink back into warm milky-blue waters at Mývatn Nature Baths, or even inside a volcanic crater at Víti, beside the Askja caldera. The soothing springs plus the mind-bending scenery make for utter relaxation. The sauna is as deeply entrenched in Finnish tradition: participants steam in the nude, whisk themselves with birch twigs and cool off with a cold shower or icy plunge.
