Day 1: On arrival in Charleston, the first stop will be the Charleston Tea Plantation the only tea plantation in the USA. You will learn about the growing and harvesting of tea as you travel the plantation by trolley.Discover how tea is processed, the difference between black tea, green tea and flavored teas, and the proper way to make tea In the afternoon a horse drawn carriage ride through the historic district will sure to delight you. DinnerDay 2: Our day begins with breakfast and a visit to Magnolia Plantation with the spring flowers in bloom. It is the oldest public tourist site in the low country, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens.One of the highlights of the day will be the nature train ride where you experience history and wildlife on this action-packed tram tour of the plantation’s wetlands, lakes, forests, and marshes. Naturalist guides help you spot alligators, turtles, egrets, and herons in native habitats. With more than 600 acres of wildlife habitats and gardens, it can be difficult to see everything there is to see on foot. The nature train allows you to view a large portion of these wonderful areas in an entertaining and educational way. The afternoon sail Charleston Harbor on the Schooner Pride an 84’ tall ship operating in Charleston Harbor. Watch the coastal sunset and enjoy our exclusive wine tasting as you sail Charleston Harbor.Day 3: This morning we will feature a visit to Ft Jackson where the history and life of the Civil War will come alive through period interpreters. The stories that are told will help you understand the living conditions at this period of history. In the afternoon we will visit Tybee Island perhaps the most laid-back location on the southeastern coast. There are miles of beach, forts and museums and a great old lighthouse; endangered birds and other animal species. For those that are energetic you can climb the lighthouse stairs for a magnificent coastal view. Tonight we will feature a low country seafood boil. Breakfast and Dinner.Day 4: On arrival in Savannah we will have time to explore the area along River Street before heading to Mrs. Wilkes where you will be served lunch family style featuring southern cuisine. This all you can eat lunch is sure to be a highlight of the day. After lunch a local guide will join you who will explain the siege of Savannah, why Savannah was spared on Sherman’s march to the sea, the cotton industry and the development of the Georgia Colony.
