Nyungwe Forest National Park is sliced in two parts by the Huye–Cyangugu road. Visitors can access the park through the Kitabi Booking Office, the Gisakura Booking Office or the Uwinka Reception Centre, which all lie along this road. For information online, see www.rwandatourism.com.
Uwinka Reception Centre This reception centre is a little over halfway to Cyangugu from Huye (Butare). Most nature walks (as well as the Canopy Walkway) begin here. Note that this reception centre does not take bookings nor accept payments; guides and activities must be booked online or paid at either Kitabi Booking Office (at the eastern end of the park) or at Gisakura Booking Office (at the western end of the park).
It has a small but informative display on the ecology of the park, a cafeteria and an outdoor terrace area.
Gisakura Booking Office This booking office can be found in Gisakura (near the tea plantation) and is the one most frequently used by park visitors. You can pay fees here and organise nature walks, birdwatching trips and chimpanzee tracking.
Kitabi Booking Office This booking office lies at the eastern end of the park. You can pay fees here and book nature walks, birdwatching trips and chimpanzee tracking. A number of nature walks also start here.
