I am planning to travel overland from Russia to Georgia in June. I will be visiting Volgograd before heading south. I have read and been told that I have to stop by Rostov.
While I know that the train from Volgograd to Rostov takes about 12 hours I was wondering how long does it take by bus and what is the schedule? I would be grateful if anyone could share their experience. I would also appreciate if you could provide names and websites of bus companies running this service. Thanks in…
I am planning to go to Russia for the World Cup and I will be staying 5 nights in St Petersburg, 5 nights in Moscow, 2 nights in Kaliningrad, 2 nights in Volgograd and 2 nights in Vladikavkaz before heading off to Georgia. I am aware that my hosts would need to register me with the local authorities within 24 hours of my check-in in each city. As I am mostly doing Airbnb, I suspect this registration thing might not go as smoothly as it should, bearing in mind that my stays in…
I know there are lot of posts about it but most of them are from Eu to Belarus to Russia.
I am going to travel from Moscow to Warsaw by train. And if I could though Belarus.
I contacted my consulate based in Minsk and they told me I would need obviously to apply for a visa in Moscow. And I would be fine.
I saw a recent report on Seat61 that someone has made the journey Warsaw to Moscow in April without trouble.
Anyone has recent experience in opposite way??
I will travel from Vladivostok to Ulan Ude. I was thinking that i could stop at Khabarovsk.
Does anyone of you have been there? Do you recommend?
I heard is a nice Amur Town, pretty chill and good break after long train ride. But for me it would be my first stop on the Trans Siberian. So i don't know if i should stop there or not.
I saw there are some nice places to visit in town and maybe the cruise on the river... anything else?
I'll be in Russia for the FIFA World Cup 2018 and I will be visiting multiple cities to watch the games. I'm concerned about the long train rides. Will I be able to watch the matches on the train?
Do they have TVs on the train and would they air the World Cup matches on them? Does TV has reception all the time during the train journey. I don't want to miss a goal. haha.
Another option is to use the internet to stream the games. Do trains have fast wifi? Or Can I use 4G mobile data? Would it…
Last year I got a 3 year tourist visa for Russia. , got a letter of invitation for my hotel, got the visa, and went. For my next trip, to Moscow, I made a reservation at a hotel. Since I have a visa already, there was no need to get a second letter of invitation. Am I right? (thinking too much about this, I think.)

Hi guys, I would like to take a short trip to Daghestan this summer. I'm wondering if anybody knows where to get tourist information about sights, interesting places, nature, trekking, beaches, etc. Also history and culture information needed.
I tried to have a look for books, but it looks like Daghestan is almost unknown to tourist literature.
I can speak russian, so any source of information in russian would be welcome
