Experienced tour guide Jack Sheremetoff had a super-central apartment hostel in Irkutsk long before the word even entered the Russian language. Despite competition, the city's original backpacker haven is still the place to meet travellers and organise trips. The spotless, air-conditioned dorms are spacious, but beds are limited so book ahead. The entrance is at the rear of the building.
Located in the city centre of Irkutsk, Hostel Baikaler features a fully equipped shared kitchen, free Wi-Fi access throughout the hostel, and a 24-hour check-in. The dormitory rooms here provide guests with towels and linens, a desk, a wardrobe, and a shared bathroom. Other property facilities include a tour desk and ticket service, a daily maid service, and laundry facilities. Trud Stadium is a 6-minute walk, and Kirova Park is an 8-minute walk away. A number of Irkutsk University buildings are reachable within a 5-minute walk. Hostel Baikaler is a 3-minute walk from Ulista Gorkogo tram stop, 2.5 km from Irkutsk Train Station, and 9 km from International Airport Irkutsk.
