You are going to explore the picturesque Bucovina and Neamt areas including the famous painted monasteries, part of the UNESCO Patrimony and discover the rural way of living in the villages where traditions are still passed on from generation to generation. At the end of the tour we will dedicate our time to Iasi, in order to enjoy the charming of the most romantic city in Romania.
Day 1 |Iasi City TourIn Iasi, we will take a stroll through the Stephen the Great Boulevard, and discover the bohemian atmosphere of the city. We will admire the Rozoveanu Palace and the oldest national theatre in Romania, the „Vasile Alecsandri” National Theatre, as well as two of Iasi’s most important religious sites: the Three Hierarchs Church and the Metropolitan Cathedral.Next up we will visit the most important landmark of Iasi, the Palace of Culture, and its beautiful Clock Tower. We will also visit the Golia Monastery, and our city tour will end at the Library of the „Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University.Day 2 | Iasi – Gura HumoruluiIn the morning we will leave for Gura Humorului, a town located in the heart of Bukovina. Our first stop will be at the crown jewel of the Painted Monasteries, Voronet. The Voronet Monastery is famous due to its frescoes painted in a shade of blue whose composition remains a mystery to the modern world.vAfter Voronet, we will visit another painted monastery, Moldovita. Here, you will be witness to the art of egg dyeing, a craft which is specific to this region of the country.Our trip continues with a trip to a traditional village located where the time seems to have stood still. Its inhabitants are the Hutsuls, an ancient mountain tribe scattered along the Carpathian Mountains. We will discover their traditions and culture, which are based on family and on nature.In the evening will return in Gura Humorului for a traditional dinner.Day 3 | Gura Humorului – Sucevita – Neamt Fortress – Nicolae Popa Museum – IasiOur third day starts with a trip to Sucevita, a Painted Monastery surrounded by fortified walls. The religious edifice is part of the UNESCO heritage and was built in a Moldavian style, with Gothic and Byzantine influences. Its murals are dominated by the color green, obtained through an ancient technique from natural pigments.At Marginea, we will discover the famous art of black pottery, and then we will visit the Neamt Fortress, an important military and historical landmark that survived the siege of Sultan Mehmed II, the conqueror of Constantinople.Before heading back to Iasi, we will step inside a private peasant museum. The museum has the name of Nicolae Popa, a local sculptor and a true creator of folklore. Here, you can witness his creation and try on the ritual masks and traditional costumes. On our way back to Iasi, we will visit a beautiful village and an important center for promoting the traditional crafts. The village is famous for making diverse flavors of jam. You don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to try the delicious homemade products!Day 4 | DepartureAfter breakfast, you will be transferred back to the airport.
