Discover and ramble through the rolling hills and wild flower meadows of the Gheorgheni Basin or climb up to the pastures in the mountains through old pine forests, pure creeks and nearby isolated sheepfolds. During this tour you can experience both the freedom of horseback riding in Transylvania and the Carpathian Mountains wilderness. The ride is lead through unmarked terrain, but your experienced bilingual guide knows the trails inside and out. Ride atop a strong and secure Lippizaner horse renowned for their energetic temperament and impressive stamina, as you explore the fascinating local flora and fauna. It is an important aware that this tour is available only for intermediate riders and above.
Our horse riding ranch in Gheorgheni offers a great herd of energetic and reliable locally bred horses from which 6 Lipizzaners and 1 Saghya Arab with 155-172 cm heights and age between 5-15 years old, so there is always the right horse for you. Once you arrive at the ranch, your guide will put great effort in finding the right horse and in trying to adjust the trail to the riding experience of each person. First he explains the safety rules and how it all works out on the trail, then you will take a short test ride so the guide can asses your experience and skills. Based on the assessment and your preferences, you can choose from the following one-day tours: • The Sugo Cave tour (about 5 hours, visit to the cave included) • Visiting the nature reserve of the Fenek moor at Voslobeni (about 5-6 hours) • The Pricske tour (about 5-6 hours) • The Kovacspeter and the spring of the Olt tour (5-6 hours) • Borzont tour (7-8 hours) Afterwards, it's time to get on the horse and ride! During this tour you will get a different perspective of the incredible scenery of the Eastern Carpathians and about the Székely villages surrounding Gheorgheni. Depending on the choice of the trail, you will get a first-hand taste of the wild landscape and the rural life of local villagers. During the tour at a great vista you can rest a while and your guide optionally will welcome you to a wholesome picnic in nature from local produce. After arriving back at the ranch, a cold drink (or when the weather gets bad a warm) will be provided. There will also be time to talk to the guide, ask questions and take pictures with the horses. Helmets are available for free at the ranch. We recommend you to have hiking boots and leggings. Riding boots are recommended only if walking is comfortable in them. The weather conditions of the region make it necessary to have warm clothes and raincoat at hand. If needed, we can provide you the latter ones.Please note: This ride is suitable for intermediate riders and above who are happy and balanced in the saddle at walk, trot and canter.
