Welcome to Odorheiu Secuiesc
With baroque buildings, galleries and genteel cafe culture, Odorheiu Secuiesc is a pleasant spot to enjoy some Hungarian flavour. Around 96% of the town's residents identify as Hungarian, which is reflected in the language and cuisine: you'll spot signs in both Romanian and Hungarian, and enjoy poppyseed cake and gulyás (goulash) galore.
Most locals refer to the town as Székelyudvarhely, unfortunately no easier for foreigners to pronounce than its Romanian name. It’s an agreeable detour between Sighişoara and the east.
