First stop - Castle Bran Explore Romania's magnificent castles and ruins as you traverse its the dramatic landscapes. You'll discover the myriad influences of centuries' worth of imperial history on this ancient country, from Princess Ileana to Vlad the Impaler. In the center of Romania is a medieval castle believed to have once held Vlad the Impaler prisoner. The infamous Romanian ruler was immortalized as the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, “Dracula,” and thanks to this loose link to the famous vampire, Bran Castle is popularly known in the region and beyond as “Dracula’s Castle. Next stop will be Castle Peles. Nestled at the foot of the Bucegi Mountains in the picturesque town of Sinaia, Peles Castle is a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance architecture, considered by many one of the most stunning castles in Europe. Peles Castle was the first European castle entirely lit by electrical current. The electricity was produced by the castle's own plant. The castle draws its name from neighboring Peles Creek, which passes right through the courtyard.
