Qatar in

One Day

Absorb the best of modern central Doha on a morning promenade along the corniche, watching the city’s stellar skyline dance in the heat. Spend the afternoon in cooler contemplation at the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha’s priceless treasure house. Seek out gems of a different kind among the silks and spices for sale in Souq Waqif, and admire the feathered plumage on display in the neighbouring Falcon Souq. Complete the evening with a meal at one of the souq's bustling restaurants.

Three Days

On day two, recharge by the beach at Katara, where there are also fine restaurants and art galleries to fill your time before a sunset dhow (traditional wooden boat) trip.

On day three, hire a car and tour the peninsula, stopping off at Al Khor for lunch at Al Sultan Beach Resort. Then head north to explore the ancient rock carvings at Al Jassasiya and end the day at the far-flung Al Zubarah Fort.

Four Days

Search for a pearl on Bir Zekreet's shore full of washed-up oysters. Enjoy some R&R and water sports at Sealine Beach Resort or catch the boat to Banana Island Resort, where opaque waters and nearly a kilometre of pristine sand awaits. For something more adventurous, go dune bashing or sky diving in the desert, or camp overnight with help from a local tour operator, have a picnic in the dunes and gaze up at the stars on a magic carpet of sand.
