San Juan is a late-night town and you'll find places to party across the city. Old San Juan is good for strolling the cobblestone streets from venue to venue, with lounges and dive bars tucked into colonial-era buildings, popular with both locals and travelers. Beachfront neighborhoods like Condado are known for their glitzy resort venues. Or you can go totally hipster in Santurce, where trendy places open (and close) regularly.
Condado, Ocean Park & Isla Verde
Break out your sweetest threads for nights in the trendy clubs and posh resorts of the famous Condado and Isla Verde beaches. But also know that you're never far from more humble spots in Ocean Park for a cold drink overlooking the sands.
Condado is especially good for walking at night, as places are fairly close together. It becomes more scattered as you go east.
Santurce & Miramar
The tiny streets around La Placita de Santurce are perfect for finding a cold beer or cocktail, even early in the week. Calle Roberto Todd is often buzzing with happy hour drop-ins.
Gay & Lesbian San Juan
Considered to be the most gay-friendly destination in the Caribbean, San Juan has long buried its stereotypical macho image and replaced it with a culture known for its tolerance and openness.
Condado is an especially gay-friendly neighborhood. The beach at the end of Calle Vendig is a gay hangout and there are several popular cafes and restaurants nearby. For clubbing and cruising, edgy Santurce is where it's at, with new places opening all the time.
The annual Puerto Rico Queer Filmfest takes place in mid-November; Pride events are held in early June.
