Standing grandly over a corner of the plaza, this building's lemon-yellow colonial-era facade has emerged from the scaffolding after years of preservationist dispute. The historic building, location and clutch of amenities, and mix of classic colonial and modern rooms, keep it among the top options in the city center.
Of the two connected buildings, the best rooms (the colonial ones) face the square, with black-and-white-tiled floors and balconies; those in the back are clean but have little by way of atmosphere. The courtyard pool is tiny, but with two class eateries in the Lola restaurant (patronized by the city elite) and Melao cafe, chic design elements and an open-air bar, it's well worth a stop.
Centrally located in the historic downtown of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino is a 15-minute walk from the Ponce Museum of Art. It features an elegant restaurant and rooms with a 32-inch flat-screen TV. Coffee facilities, an in-room safe and a work desk are standard in every Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino room. Rooms in the main building feature modern décor while rooms in the Historic Building are styled in bright colors. The outdoor pool has a large sundeck and is surrounded by tropical gardens. Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino also has an on-site gym and laundry services. The Lola Eclectic Cuisine restaurant serves international cuisine for lunch and dinner, with indoor and outdoor seating available. Guests can also visit the Melao coffee shop and Viva bar. Plaza Degetau, the main city plaza, is 75 meters from the hotel and contains Parque de Bombas, a historic firehouse. Cathedral of our Lady of Guadeloupe is just 40 meters away.
