This gimmicky, overpriced theme park off Hwy 2 nevertheless offers a glimpse of the historic Arecibo lighthouse, and is a good place to break up the long drives across the north coast if you’re traveling with kids, who will likely get into the pirate-themed stuff.

Perched on a headland on the hill at Punta Morrillos, east of Arecibo, the striking, whitewashed Faro de los Morrillos dates from 1897. It has a museum and fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean from the roof.
