Tour description provided by Viator

Post hurricane Irma & Maria (2017) notice: Most of the popularly known trails remain closed until further notice.  Our tour route has been adapted into an Off the Beaten Path version in order to continue offering a full day of pure adventure.  During this tour you will experience hiking thru the skirts of El Yunque National Rainforest, spot the different fauna and flora, and bathe in a waterfall; plus an added bonus of natural pools and water slides.  Witness and support first hand the recuperating and blooming process of our beloved Forest, while learning interesting information and facts about the Rainforest, and recent updates of Puerto Rico in general.
Your day trip to El Yunque Rainforest starts with hotel pickup in San Juan. When you arrive at the 28,000-acre (11,330-hectare) forest, which reaches an elevation of 3,624 feet (1,105 meters), we will begin our journey through the varied micro-climates and vegetation zones of this unique natural area. Learn about a variety of subjects, from medicinal and toxic plant identification to geology, ecology, pre-Colombian island history, native wildlife, and survival tips. The area receives more than 100 billion gallons of rainfall each year, coming in brief rainbow showers that end almost as soon as they begin. Initial hike is for 45 minutes approximately, where you will river trek and walk by some rocky surfaces in order to get to the first natural pools and waterfall we will visit.  After spending some time here we will move to another area to enjoy more of the refreshing natural pools on a brief hike that will bring you to it's best kept secret, a 10 feet drop natural water slide.  Here you will have the opportunity to swim and even swing from a rope, like locals do.At the end of the tour we will make a late lunch stop (food cost not included) before heading back to San Juan.
