I love to travel. Most of it has been to Europe, where I have been on vacation 16 times. I also once lived and worked in The Netherlands for 4 years.
Favorite country is probably Germany or Switzerland; favorite city is probably Prague. I first went to Germany (Munich) in 1987 to visit my sister, who was studying there. I have been back many times. 1st trip to Switzerland was in 1986. Love Zermatt and the Alps.
When I lived in Europe, I went to Prague 4 or 5 times a year, just for a long weekend.
Most "unique" places I have been to include Tallinn, in Estonia, and Malta. I really liked Malta..wish I had gone back more than once.
Memorable events in Europe, include the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. I saw the Ladies Figure Skating Finals, with Tonya Harding, Nancy Kerrigan, and the gold winner, Oksana Baiul. I also sat 8 rows behind the Swedish bench in the gold medal ice hockey game between Sweden and Canada.
I also was fortunate enough to have visited Eastern Berlin in August, 1989, right before the Wall came down in November of that year. About a year later, I actually was in East Berlin at midnight on October 3, 1990, Unification night.
I have also travelled quite often to New York City, the Washington D.C. area, Chicago, and the Memphis area, where I have brothers and sisters.
In the past few years, most of my traveling, in addition to the 4 cities I just mentioned, has been out west for photography workshops. These include workshops in Death Valley, Cambria (halfway between L.A. and San Francisco), Lone Pine (CA), Yosemite, and Bishop (CA). These workshops also have included the Smoky Mountains as well as the Hawaiian island of Kauai, one of my favorites....been there a number of times.
Lastly, I made my first trip south of the U.S. border a couple of years ago to Belize...several days in Cayo District and several on San Pedro Island.
