With its high-rise blocks and modern suburbs, Seia is not an immediately inviting prospect. But scratch beneath the surface and you’ll discover it’s not without its charms. Seia has sweeping views over the surrounding lowlands and a few interesting museums. Nearby, there are some attractive rural lodgings in the verdant hills, ideal for a tranquil getaway. Further afield, the village of Sabugueiro is a popular day trip and Torre, mainland Portugal’s highest peak, is a gripping 29km drive away.
