A Cevicheria

Peruvian in Príncipe Real, Santos & Estrela

A massive sponge octopus hangs over the marble balcony at this hip cevicheria, a perfect spot for solo travellers to take in some extremely fresh, mostly authentic ceviche and other locally tweaked Peruvian specialities. Traditionalists will baulk at the dollops of sweet-potato purée swimming in the leche de tigre (juice of the ceviche), but it's otherwise a solid seafood bet.

Ask for a side of fiery ají amarillo (Peruvian yellow pepper) to give it that Andean kick. The takeaway window is perfect for a quick bite and animatedly popular for pisco sours (€9.50) on the go.
