Entering the stained-glass-draped and palm-covered entrance hall of this hidden 20th-century mansion is akin to making a discovery. Built by Brazilians in 1907, it's rife with ornamental stucco, figurative reliefs, murals and carved works and employs an eclectic potpourri of styles (neo-Arabic, neobaroque, neoclassical and medieval-inspired touches abound). Sleeping in one of the six regal suites will leave you feeling like an aristocrat.
This elegant hotel was once a 19th-century aristocratic family home. Located in Lisbon’s historic centre, it features stained-glass windows and antique furniture, and a terrace overlooking the Tagus River. The guest suites at Palacete Chafariz Del Rei offer a blend of modern and period details, including stuccoed ceilings. All suites have free WiFi access and satellite TV. Breakfast is served in the restored dining room which overlooks the terraced gardens. The streets surrounding the Palacete also contain a wide variety of restaurants and bars. Guests of Chafariz Del Rei can relax with a book in the wood-panelled library, or admire the Art Deco interior of the Espelhos Gallery. The magnificent Castle of São Jorge is 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The hotel is 400 metres from the nearest Metro station and 7.5 km from the International Airport.
