In this tour we will visit the charming medieval city of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city located in the Portuguese region of Alentejo. Évora is surrounded by 14th century walls, and known by its magnificent plains and traditional white painted houses.
In this tour we will visit Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city, surrounded by 14th century walls, and known by its magnificent plains and traditional white painted houses.We start by visiting the oldest cromlech in southern Europe, with more than 7000 years: Cromeleque dos Almendres. It is a set with more than 100 rocks that are placed in a circular way and aligned with the solstices and equinoxes. It's 2000 years older than Stonehenge!Next, we visit Évora, where you will have the opportunity to walk in the city center and see the Roman Temple (Templo de Diana) and the Sé, a gothic cathedral (the largest in Portugal) that is right in the heart of the city.After lunch we will continue to visit Évora, namely the Church of San Francisco and the famous Chapel of Bones, a must see!
