Head here to sample some of the great wines of the Alentejo. Every week new wines are on offer, with more than 70 wineries represented. You can taste six or so varieties on hand for a minimal fee. Bottles will set you back anywhere from €4.50 to €65.
Pick up a map of the rota dos vinhos (wine route) in the Alentejo while you’re here, and get tips on which places to visit (wineries charge between €5 and €30 for a tour and tasting). You'll need to reserve ahead at most places.
