From the bus station, a 15-minute walk northwest of the centre, Rede Expressos runs at least a dozen buses daily to Lisbon (€14.50, 2½ hours) and Porto (€12.50, 1½ hours), as well as direct services to Braga (€14, 2¾ hours, six daily), and Faro (€28, six to 8½ hours, two daily).

Regional destinations served include Seia (€10, 1¾ hours, five to seven daily) and Viseu (€8.50, 1¼ hours, at least hourly), where you can pick up onward connections to Guarda.


Coimbra has two train stations: Coimbra-B and the more central Coimbra A (called just 'Coimbra' on timetables). Long-distance trains stop at Coimbra-B, 2km north of the city centre, from where local trains connect with Coimbra A – this connection is included in the price of tickets to/from Coimbra.

Coimbra has regular services to Lisbon (AP/IC €23.20/19.50, 1¾/two hours, hourly) and Porto (€17/13.40, one/1¼ hours, at least hourly). Trains also serve Figueira da Foz (€2.75, 1¼ hours, hourly weekdays, fewer on weekends) and Aveiro (€5.20, one hour, at least hourly).
