Welcome to Port Lockroy

An 800m-long harbor on the west coast of Wiencke, Port Lockroy is one of the most popular tourist stops in Antarctica, thanks to Base A, the former British station-turned-museum on tiny Goudier Island, operated by the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT; www.ukaht.org).

Visits are usually made in conjunction with landings at the gentoo rookery at nearby Jougla Point, where other highlights include blue-eyed shags and a composite whale skeleton reconstructed on the shore.
