Most of the main attractions are grouped to the southeast of the Stary Rynek along a picturesque ridge overlooking the Vistula. Look for plaques in English offering historic details.
To the northwest of the castle stretches the Old Town. At the northern end of ul Grodzka is the Stary Rynek, formerly the heart of 14th-century Płock. Restoration of the city's old treasures is ongoing.
Down at the river, much effort is going into creating vast new parks and attractions, including the river pier.
Don't miss the promenade that follows the bluff and the various new walkways linking the Old Town to the riverfront.
