Getting Around

For airport transfers, city buses 65A and 65B run from the airport to Łódź Kaliska train station, from where you'll have to transfer to a tram to reach the city centre (4.40zł, 20 minutes, twice hourly). A taxi to the centre will cost about 30zł to 40zł.

Łódź' public transport system includes trams and buses. Buy tickets on board. A ticket becomes valid for a set length of time after you validate it in a device on board, and remains valid for unlimited transfers. Tickets valid for 20/40/60 minutes cost 2.80/3.60/4.40zł; a one-day ticket costs 11zł. One of Europe's best transit deals is the unlimited ride weekend ticket for a mere 10zł. It's good from 6pm Friday to 3am Monday.

Order a taxi through MPT (42 19191) or Merc Radio (42 650 5050); daytime fares start at 6zł plus 2.20zł per kilometre. Uber is active in Łódź. Riksza (bicycle rickshaws) ply ul Piotrkowska and cost about 6zł per person per trip (agree to a price in advance).

Rent bikes from Cykel, which has a wide range of bikes and offers good weekend deals. Or pick up one of the public bikes (www.lodzkirowerpubliczny.pl) parked at stations dotted around the city. Register in advance.
