Łódź's airport is 6km southwest of the city centre. It's serviced by a few budget carriers, including Ryanair, and there are scheduled flights to destinations in the UK and Ireland (London Stansted, East Midlands and Dublin) and continental Europe (Munich and Athens).
The city's central bus station is located next to Łódź Fabryczna train station, but not all bus operators use it; some intercity services depart from the bus terminal outside Łódź Kaliska train station to the west of the city centre.
FlixBus (www.flixbus.com) operates services from Łódź Fabryczna to Warsaw (13zł, two hours, every two hours), Poznań (30zł, three hours, six daily), Wrocław (30zł, 3¼ hours, six daily) and Toruń (30zł, 2¾ hours, four daily). Fares vary, so you get the best deal by booking online before you ride.
Deutsche Bahn (www.bahn.com) operates an overnight coach service between Berlin and Łódź Kaliska (from 65zł, 6½ hours).
The city's most central train station, Łódź Fabryczna, reopened in 2016 after a massive reconstruction project, and is now one of the most modern and dramatic train stations in the country, with fast and frequent services to Warsaw (31zł. 90 minutes, at least hourly).
Łódź Kaliska (take tram 12 from the junction of Piotrkowska and Zielona streets) serves trains to Łowicz (25zł, one hour, hourly), Kraków (80zł, four to five hours, five daily; via Warsaw), Wrocław (from 33zł, five hours, one direct daily) and Poznań (from 33zł, 4¼ hours, four daily).
