It is the place where every year millions of pilgrims from all over the world come asking for numerous graces. On premises of the vast Sanctuary the Congregation of the Sisters of God's Mother of Mercy, the main church, an array of chapels and few other building complexes are found.The shape of the church relates to the rays that spring from the heart of the Lord as he appeared in the vision of St. Faustyna Kowalska. She was a member of the Congregation, a nun and a mystic, canonised by Pope John Paul II in 2000. This image of Merciful Jesus which is considered to have miraculous and healing properties is placed above the side altar in Łagiewniki whereas its copies and reproductions are spread throughout the whole world.Taking this tour you will also see the statue of Our Lady of Mercy, statues of St. Stanisław Kostka and St. Mary Magdalene, a picture of St. Joseph with the Child and a coffin with relics of St. Sister Faustina resting on the altar below the image.Also, from the viewing tower placed over there you can enjoy marvellous panoramic view of the city.
