Bayerische Staatsoper

Munich

One of the world's best opera companies, the Bavarian State Opera performs to sell-out crowds at the Nationaltheater in the Residenz and puts the emphasis on Mozart, Strauss and Wagner. In summer it hosts the prestigious Opernfestspiele. The opera's house band is the Bayerisches Staatsorchester, in business since 1523 and thus Munich's oldest orchestra.
