In the Baber Mahal Revisited complex, Caroline’s is a sophisticated outdoor bistro popular with expat foodies. It offers French-influenced main courses such as wild-mushroom tart with walnut sauce, Roquefort salad, and crêpes Suzette with passionfruit sorbet, plus fine quiches and pastries, daily specials and a lazy weekend brunch (Rs 1250), all with a wide range of desserts, teas and wines.

Try a swift glass of pastis (liquorice-flavoured liqueur) with mint syrup: it’s the perfect aperitif to an afternoon’s shopping.
