There's very little nightlife on the northern end of Playa Grande, but there is Kike's. Order the local catch of the day from the blackboard until 9:30pm, or hang out playing pool and watching sports under the array of international flags above the bar. A bit more Tico flavor than your average hotel bar, for sure.
