Long-time Francophiles Kerry and Peter Hodges serve a fabulous three-course French lunch (book ahead in summer) at this old rustic riverside beauty, where you can kick back with roast chicken with olives and a glass of Hunter Valley wine or a Bordeaux rosé. The à la carte options traverse the best of Modern Australian tastes from breakfast to dinner using mostly local produce.
Named for Cat Stevens’ song ‘Tea for the Tillerman’ back in the 1970s, the building is in fact the longest continually operating restaurant on the north coast and dates back to the 1880s.
