Toowoomba's favourite Turk draws the crowds with its cosy, homely vibe and gorgeous Ottoman flavours. Feast on generous mezze-style peynirli sigara böreği (filo-pastry cigars of feta cheese, kaşar cheese, fresh herbs and spinach) or mains like kayseri manti (steamed, Turkish-style beef dumplings in a yoghurt and tomato conasse). The wine list includes a handful of Turkish drops.
On weekends, Sofra also opens for breakfast (dishes $20), serving everything from gözleme (savoury pastries) to a range of Turkish egg dishes.
