Pass 'n Thyme

Vancouver Island

Head up the ramp alongside and aim for a picture-window table overlooking shimmering, boat-bobbling Broughton Strait. You'll soon be diving into some excellent grilled halibut and chips alongside everyone else who was on the ferry (this is one of Alert Bay's few eateries). Burgers, wraps and made-from-scratch soups round out the menu. The deep-fried ice-cream tops it off.

A good spot to end your day, as you can watch your ferry approaching from the mainland.
