Albergue A Fábrica da Luz

Galicia

This well-run hostel and activities hub occupies a converted small hydroelectric station in the leafy canyon of the Río Mao (a Sil tributary), 11km east of Parada de Sil. The Ruta Cañón do Río Mao starts right here. The two 14-bunk dorms and two double rooms (sharing bathrooms) are clean and well kept, and good, inexpensive food is available.

You might like to try their 'treetents' – off-ground tents strung between trees, costing €40 to €50 for two or three people with sleeping bags included.

The hostel functions as the Centro BTT Ribeira Sacra (Ribeira Sacra Mountain Bike Centre), with bikes to rent (guests/nonguests €13/18 per day including helmet). There are kayaks (guests/nonguests €14/20 per half-day), too, at the foot of the canyon.
