Ion Adventure Hotel

The Golden Circle

Ion is hip, ultra modern and remote. Using sustainable practices throughout, it has a geothermal pool, organic spa and a restaurant with slow-food local ingredients. The ubercool bar has designer cardboard lampshades and floor-to-ceiling windows for Northern Lights watching. Rooms are a tad small, but kitted out impeccably.

Some have exposed concrete walls and mustard and gray tones – you can request a wake-up call in the early hours if the aurora borealis is spotted. Find it in a quiet geothermal valley (near the local power station) on the southern side of Þingvallavatn.
