Half Acre was one of the leaders of Chicago's craft brewing movement, concocting the deliciously hoppy Daisy Cutter Pale Ale and selling it in cans. The beer earned a cult following, and now local suds fanatics practically live in the exposed-brick and rustic-wood tap room, sucking down the strong 'core' brews and limited-batch 'adventure' beers.
An upscale pub-grub menu (with an emphasis on eclectic burritos) accompanies the beer lineup. Tours ($10) take place at 11am on Saturdays; reservations are not accepted, so arrive early. While Half Acre opened a larger brewery and tap room a couple of miles north near Rosehill Cemetery, the Lincoln brewery is the original site and the one where more of the experimental beers are made.
