Gistihúsið – Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir

Inland

The town was named after this farm and splendid heritage guesthouse (now big enough to warrant the 'hotel' label) on the banks of Lagarfljót, 300m west of the crossroads. In its old wing, en-suite rooms retain a sense of character. In contrast, a new extension houses 30 modern, slightly anonymous hotel rooms. There's a great restaurant on-site, and a spa.
