Hortobágy Inn Museum

Great Plain

As you'll discover at the small Hortobágy Inn Museum inside the Hortobágyi Csárda, the inn dates to 1781 and is one of the original eating houses used by salt traders on their way from the Tisza River to Debrecen. The inns provided itinerant Roma fiddlers with employment; Gypsy music and csárdak (inns) have been synonymous ever since.
