Brook Lodge & Wells Spa

County Wicklow

This luxurious country-house hotel has 86 beautifully appointed rooms ranging from standard bedrooms with sleigh beds and deep baths to loft-style mezzanine suites. There are two swimming pools, a sumptuous spa (treatments from €40), a Serail mud chamber, Finnish baths and outdoor hot tubs, plus a par-72 golf course designed by Paul McGinley. It's 12km southwest of Rathdrum.

All water is drawn from its own well, which is heated by the hotel's geothermal heat recovery system (Ireland's largest); other eco-initiatives include biogas and organic products, and produce including ingredients used at the superb on-site restaurant Strawberry Tree.
